Rogers Center plans fifth annual Family Fishing Day<\/strong><\/p>\n

Among the activities featured during the fifth annual Family Fishing Day is the extended Family Fun activity, \u2018Fish\u00a0Prints.\u2019 Before the invention of cameras, Japanese anglers used gyotaku (fish impression) to document their\u00a0catch. First a fish is rubbed with ink, then a \u2018print\u2019 is made on paper. Visitors have the opportunity to try using\u00a0rubber fish to illustrate the catch of the day!<\/p>\n

On June 16, join novice and seasoned anglers for a few rounds of catch and release from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hosted\u00a0by Friends of Rogers, the day is ideal for beginners eager to learn more about the sport, and for experts to\u00a0mentor future fishing enthusiasts. Bait will be provided and fishing poles are available first-come, first-served.<\/p>\n

Rogers Center ponds in Sherburne are generally not open to the public for fishing. However, during Family\u00a0Fishing Day, all visitors are encouraged to try this popular outdoor pastime, without holding an otherwise\u00a0mandatory New York state fishing license.<\/p>\n

\u201cBack by popular demand for the fifth year in a row, Family Fishing Day is a great way for the whole family to\u00a0enjoy the outdoors together,\u201d said Simon Solomon, Friends of Rogers executive director. \u201cWe are especially\u00a0grateful to Community Bank for partnering with us this year. Support from local businesses and individuals keep\u00a0program costs affordable \u2026 and in this case, completely free of charge!\u201d<\/p>\n

Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers\u00a0Environmental\u00a0Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that\u00a0offers educational programs for all ages. Seasonal hours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday,\u00a0and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.<\/p>\n
