It is clear to us that Purdue profited by deliberately exploiting New Yorkers\u2019 addictions, and by pushing healthcare providers to increase patients\u2019 use and dependence on these potentially fatal drugs. In addition to our impending lawsuit against Purdue,\u00a0our office will continue to lead the multi-state investigation of opioid manufacturers and distributors across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn New York, we will not sit idly\u00a0by as big corporations fuel the opioid epidemic and ignore the consequences of their actions,\u201d\u00a0Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo\u00a0said.\u00a0\u201cWe said we would sue to hold opioid manufacturers and distributors responsible, and that\u2019s exactly what we\u2019re doing. By taking Purdue Pharma to court, we are taking\u00a0this significant\u00a0step forward to hold corporations accountable and put an end to the opioid crisis once and for all.
