The proper use of a seat belt or child restraint reduces the likelihood of\u00a0injury should a motorist be involved in a crash. The Madison County Sheriff\u2019s Office\u00a0will participate in the \u201cClick It or Ticket\u201d campaign and will be deploying dedicated\u00a0traffic enforcement patrols that will include roving patrols and checkpoints.<\/p>\n<p>The dedicated traffic enforcement patrols will be targeting motorists who violate the\u00a0seat belt and\/or child restraint laws of NYS. All front seat occupants of a motor\u00a0vehicle are required to be properly restrained with a seatbelt or appropriate child\u00a0restraint. Any rear seat occupant of a motor vehicle under the age of 16 must be\u00a0properly restrained with a seatbelt or appropriate child restraint. The Madison\u00a0County Sheriff\u2019s Office strongly encourages all backseat occupants to be properly\u00a0restrained regardless of age.
