A 100-year tradition still alive in the heart of Hamilton<\/em><\/p>\n

Thursday Concerts on the Green will be kicking off July 12, 2018, on Hamilton\u2019s Village Green in the center of downtown Hamilton. In addition to terrific\u00a0performances, each night will be dedicated to important community service providers (teachers,\u00a0first-responders, health care professionals, etc.) and will include family-friendly events.<\/p>\n

Folks are\u00a0encouraged to dine on the Village Green. Local food trucks will sell their\u00a0specialties, and local restaurants will offer take out. Ice cream, provided by Hood Dairy, will be sold on the Green with 100-percent of the proceeds going to worthy non-profit organizations.<\/p>\n

The evening\u2019s concert and events are free for all to enjoy.<\/p>\n

Music on the Green dates back to 1902 and is one of the village\u2019s most popular summer\u00a0activities. This year\u2019s festivities begin the week after Symphor!a\u2019s annual\u00a0performance July 5 on the Green. The village is excited to expand the traditional concert\u00a0series by incorporating family-friendly events and encouraging folks to come at 5:30 p.m. to dine on\u00a0the Green.<\/p>\n

The July 12 kick-off event will highlight American blues roots band Chris\u00a0Merkley\u2019s Rocky Bottom Trio. The evening will honor and recognize our first-responders (local\u00a0police and ambulance).<\/p>\n

The July 19 performance brings CNY favorite The Old Main and\u00a0will be paired with Comic-Con Night. Costumes are highly encouraged! This should be a crazy\u00a0fun night.<\/p>\n

On July 26, world-class finger-style guitar player Loren Barrigar will perform on the evening dedicated to educators.<\/p>\n

On Aug. 2, hard-driving\u00a0blues group the Nate Gross Band graces the stage. Complementing their performance is\u00a0Racing Night with five track champion Sgt. Matt Janczuk of the Hamilton Police Department. Janczuk will be there with his\u00a0race car to talk to folks about his racing passion.<\/p>\n

on Aug. 9, Sanguine Penguin, an eclectic\u00a0Indie-Folk trio with local and Berklee College of Music roots, will perform as the evening tips its\u00a0hat to health care professionals.<\/p>\n

Winding up this year\u2019s series Aug. 16 on an evening recognizing our veterans will be a musical performance by Hamilton\u2019s very own\u00a0JJ Murphy. Murphy is now based in Nashville and has been touring the country with his soulful\u00a0folk-jazz groups; he always finds time to come back and share his talent with his hometown.<\/p>\n

The series will also give locals and visitors alike a chance to enjoy downtown Hamilton\u2019s\u00a0eateries and boutiques, many of which stay open late on the third Thursday of each month to\u00a0offer extended browsing and dining hours to the village. From home goods and fashion to\u00a0Mexican, Indian and other cuisines, there\u2019s something for everyone to explore and enjoy just a stone\u2019s\u00a0throw away from the village green.<\/p>\n

The village of Hamilton is making this series possible with the monetary and in-kind donations of area businesses.<\/p>\n
