Willow Bank is home to Central New York&#8217;s\u00a0most active Lightning sailboat fleet. 18 Lightnings competed in the regatta, half\u00a0from around the district, Rochester to Watertown, and half from the host club.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the skippers are fathers and half of them had a child or grandchild\u00a0crewing with them.<\/p>\n<p>This year, because the winds were calm both Saturday and Sunday mornings,\u00a0racing was limited to a four hour window of light and variable on Saturday\u00a0afternoon. The Race Officer put together four races in winds that were tricky but\u00a0fair.<\/p>\n<p>In a way it is fitting that this Caz Flash Bash occurred just three weeks before the\u00a0Lightning Class 80th Anniversary regatta in Skaneateles where the first Lightning\u00a0was built. It is fitting because this year&#8217;s winner was alive when the class was\u00a0started. Visiting competitor from Rochester, Dick Hallagan, won it all. Dick has\u00a0won many times before in his long racing career starting with his first regatta win\u00a059 years ago. Close behind in second was last year&#8217;s winner, Jim Barnash.<\/p>\n<p>Third\u00a0and Fourth went to local racers Ed Seyerlein and Clay Murphy.
