The 2018 stop-motion animated film is written, produced, and directed by Wes Anderson.<\/p>\n<p>When an outbreak of canine flu in Japan leads all dogs to be quarantined on an island, a young boy sets off alone to rescue his beloved pet. On the island, the boy is assisted in his quest by a pack of newly found mongrel friends. The film is rated PG-13 and runs 101 minutes.<br \/>\nThis event is sponsored by the Friends of the Cazenovia Public Library.<\/p>\n<p><em>LEGO Building Session at the library<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Cazenovia Public Library invites children ages 5 and older to the Community Room on\u00a0Monday, July 16 at 3:30 p.m.\u00a0for the chance to channel their inner architect and get building. Children\u2019s Program Coordinator Jenna Wright Martin will lead \u201cLEGO My Library,\u201d a fun, hands-on program for young <!--more-->builders. Participants will have access to the Library\u2019s vast collection of LEGO construction toys. The program will feature a LEGO\u00a0Maze\u00a0challenge and time for creative construction.<\/p>\n<p>The library is a place of imagination and discovery. Programs like \u201cLEGO My Library\u201d allow children to socialize, be creative, and see their imaginings come to life. Construction toys offer significant educational benefits to children of all ages. Not only is hands-on play fun and exciting, but it also helps to develop motor and spatial skills, ingenuity, critical thinking, social and language proficiencies and more.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_95590\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-95590\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-95590 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Dexter-Benedict-300x257.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Dexter-Benedict-300x257.jpg 300w, https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Dexter-Benedict-150x129.jpg 150w, https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Dexter-Benedict-900x772.jpg 900w, https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Dexter-Benedict-400x343.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-95590\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sculptor Dexter Benedict<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>Sculptor Dexter Benedict to Discuss The Lincklaen Statue <\/em><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Cazenovia\u00a0Public\u00a0Library\u00a0will host sculptor\u00a0Dexter Benedict in the Community Room on\u00a0Wednesday, July 18 at 7:00 p.m.\u00a0His presentation, \u201cLincklaen Sculpture: The Bronze Casting Process,\u201d\u00a0will focus on his latest commission and his artistic process.<\/p>\n<p>Dexter Benedict is the owner\/operator of the Fire Works Foundry and Sculpture Studio near Penn Yan in Yates County, New York. He received a B.A. in Art from Ottawa University, Kansas, and an M.F.A. in Sculpture from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In 2010, Benedict retired from Keuka College, where he was honored with the title of Professor of Art, Emeritus.<\/p>\n<p>Benedict\u2019s work is primarily figurative in imagery. To create a piece, he works directly in clay to develop the form, and then, using the Lost Wax Process, casts the work in bronze at his foundry. He has completed a number of corporate and private commissions, ranging from small commemorative awards to monumental bronze portrait figures. Locally, he created\u00a0the Ben Franklin statue in Syracuse\u2019s Franklin Square, as well as the Jerry Wilson statue and The Stone Throwers statues on Tipperary Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Benedict is currently developing a bronze statue of\u00a0Cazenovia\u2019s founder, John Lincklaen, to be erected in Lakeland Park. The sculpture, \u201cLincklaen\u2019s Vision,\u201d will be installed in celebration of\u00a0Cazenovia\u2019s 225th\u00a0Anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>All events at the\u00a0Cazenovia\u00a0Public\u00a0Library\u00a0are free and open to the\u00a0public.
