Over five workshop sessions meeting on Wednesday mornings in August at the same time, art teacher Carol Cotten will demonstrate how to \u201cmind map\u201d personal memories in words and images, using a range of art media. The art workshop for adults is limited to 22 students. Registration is required at the Oneida Library or by phone (315-363-3050).<\/p>\n

OPL\u2019s Community Drum Circle and Picnic<\/strong><\/p>\n

Oneida Public Library invites all ages to a blast at Allen Park on Broad St. Thursday evening,\u00a0August 9<\/span>, complete with a drum circle led by Ibrahim Samura, Breyt Coakley and Marco Rodegher in different styles from around the world. Guests are encouraged to bring picnic dinners, lawn chairs and drums, whether bought or of their own devising. Delivery Dad\u2019s ice-cream truck will be on hand to offer free treats to the children.<\/p>\n

Children, along with their parents, will enjoy the cult classic from 1984, \u201cThe Neverending Story,\u201d one of the first epic fantasies from Hollywood. It concerns a book, a boy (Barret Oliver), a princess, a boy warrior (Noah Hatheway), a dragon and a dark force.<\/p>\n

In the fourth of five book discussions on great literary works that rose from World War I, Prof. Roxanna Pisiak and Tom Murray this month focus on the remarkable stories, poems and sketches in \u201cThe Forbidden Zone\u201d by Mary Borden, an American nurse who witnessed first-hand the war\u2019s desolation at the Front from 1914 to 1918. First Lego League Robotics Workshop<\/strong><\/p>\n

Back for its sixth year, the robotics workshop led by Ralph Kohler and Tandi Paugh from the U.S. Air Force Lab at Rome will have students who have at least completed fifth grade building robots from Legos and power packs and programming them to do positive physical tasks. Class size is limited. Registration at the library is required.<\/p>\n

Voices are provided by a stellar ensemble cast. The film is free. Coffee, ice tea and popcorn will be served.<\/p>\n
