Fritz’s Polka Band working on new recording to commemorate 40th\u00a0anniversary<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fritz’s Polka Band\u00a0from\u00a0Verona is in the process of working on a new recording to commemorate its 40th\u00a0anniversary.<\/p>\n

FPB recording sessions, which started in mid-June, have been taking place at SubCat Music Studios in Syracuse.<\/p>\n

A release date has not been set yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince this year marks my band\u2019s 40th\u00a0anniversary, I thought recording a new CD would be a cool way to celebrate this band milestone,\u201d said band leader Fritz Scherz. \u201cAdditionally, we have numerous original tunes that have never been recorded \u2026 including some that are rather personal to me, so it felt like the time was right to do this.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile the recording project is not completed yet, we have made great strides in accomplishing what will be a very eclectic album. We have some surprises planned, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

The band last cut a new album in 2013.<\/p>\n

FPB made history in 1999 by becoming the first polka band to play at a Woodstock Festival. FPB has made 18 recordings and appears\u00a0on\u00a0“The Manchurian Candidate”\u00a0DVD, released in 2004. In 2011, FPB had two songs (\u2018Grandparent\u2019s Polka\u2019 and \u2018Here Is Fritz\u2019s Polka Band\u2019) included in two episodes of the TV show, \u2018Breaking Bad.\u2019 In 2013, FPB released its 18th\u00a0recording, a double live CD entitled,\u00a0\u201cThe WSKG Sessions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, FPB was nominated for three Just Plain Folks Music Awards and each member was nominated for national awards by the Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n
