Six hundred local growers.\u00a0How ya like them apples?<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This fall,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.applesfromny.com\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.applesfromny.com\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1539781207350000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGfKOZgQieMrifEX_qwUDuu0XPmyw\">New York Apple Association<\/a>\u00a0launched its first\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/a.cstmapp.com\/p\/27848\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/a.cstmapp.com\/p\/27848&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1539781207350000&amp;usg=AFQjCNF_fI14Gf_EFTNEGR30pwhXsfv8QA\">Apple Recipe Contest<\/a>\u00a0for apple lovers from across the state during the peak of the season. New Yorkers are encouraged to enter a homemade recipe for a chance to win a three-day autumn excursion to the Hudson Valley. The only rule is that the recipe must feature New York-grown apples, either purchased from a local grower or hand-picked at a neighborhood orchard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis season, we\u2019re experiencing an abundant apple harvest.\u201d NYAA President Cynthia Haskins said. \u201cNew Yorkers love knowing the best apples are grown right here in our own backyard, so we\u2019re excited to host this competition among fellow apple lovers to find some of the best homemade recipes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;We want to see all things apples, from pies and breads to soups and quiches to applesauce and apple-inspired entr\u00e9es. If your recipe is made from our state\u2019s homegrown apples, we hope that you\u2019ll share it!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To enter, contestants must upload a photo of their homemade recipe that includes New York apples, <!--more-->with a brief description of the recipe. Entries must be submitted by Oct. 25 at 12pm. Consumers can purchase their apples at local farm markets or hand-pick their own at neighborhood orchards and farms.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A locator map is available\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.applesfromny.com\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.applesfromny.com\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1539781207350000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGfKOZgQieMrifEX_qwUDuu0XPmyw\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to the one grand-prize winner, four runners-up will also be selected to win an apple gift box. The five selected winners will be required to share the details of their recipes, including ingredients and directions, with the New York Apple Association.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThere are multiple varieties to choose from right here in New York,\u201d Haskins said. \u201cBecause of our ideal growing conditions \u2014 from the soil, terrain and climate \u2014 New York apples are among the most flavorful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most recently, NYAA changed its logo to Apples from New York and have recently updated the website URL to reflect the new brand slogan,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.applesfromny.com\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.applesfromny.com&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1539781207350000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEYdtfv2_HEp78ok5_9eaXfIfymDg\">applesfromny.com<\/a>. Consumers will see the phrase on everything from trade ads and television commercials to billboards, bags and totes.
