Syracuse pair arrested after pursuit in stolen vehicle<\/strong><\/p>\n

On November 13, 2018, at approximately 10:36 pm, Troopers responded to a reckless driver complaint on Interstate 81 northbound in the town of Richland.<\/p>\n

Troopers observed the vehicle, a 2008 GMC Envoy, northbound on I-81 and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver refused to comply and accelerated to over 100 mph. The vehicle continued on I-81 through the towns of Richland, Sandy Creek, Ellisburg, Adams, Houndsfield, Watertown, and the City of Watertown before crashing into a parked car at the intersection of Washington and Ward Street.<\/p>\n

The operator, James J. Dunn, and a passenger, Kyara L. Arletta, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Both occupants were taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. The vehicle pursuit reached a top speed of 110 mph, lasted approximately 21 minutes, and covered a distance of approximately 30 miles.\u00a0 The investigation revealed the vehicle was reported stolen and is being investigated by the Syracuse Police Department.<\/p>\n

James J. Dunn<\/strong>, age 25, from 221 Marguerite Avenue Syracuse, NY was charged with the following:<\/p>\n

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0degree, a class \u201cD\u201d felony.<\/li>\n
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th<\/sup>\u00a0degree, a class \u201cA\u201d misdemeanor<\/li>\n
  • Fleeing A Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0degree, a class \u201cA\u201d misdemeanor<\/li>\n
  • Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd<\/sup>\u00a0degree, a class \u201cA\u201d misdemeanor<\/li>\n
  • Reckless Driving, an unclassified misdemeanor<\/li>\n
  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0degree, an unclassified misdemeanor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Kyara L. Arletta<\/strong>, age 19, from 550 Clinton Street Syracuse, NY was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0degree, a class \u201cD\u201d felony.
    \nDunn was remanded to the Jefferson County Jail without bail.\u00a0 Arletta was remanded to the Jefferson County Jail on $15,000 cash bail \/ $30,000 bond.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
