In January, the OPL Monday Movie Matinee will celebrate the perennial favorite French author, Colette, first in a new biopic and then in a classic musical. In \u201cColette,\u201d Keira Knightley portrays the smart and seductive author in 1920s\u2019 Paris in Wash Westmoreland\u2019s 2018 film. On January 28, the showing is the Lerner and Lowe musical \u201cGigi,\u201d based on Colette\u2019s novella of the same name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adoption among the Iroquois<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Historian and journalist Doug George-Kanentiio will give a timely talk on the history and traditional laws of the Iroquois Nations on adoption, naturalization and citizenship involving individuals, groups, even indigenous nations. In particular, he will present the histories of the white settlers who were adopted by their captors, including Mary Jamison, Eunice Williams and the Tarbell brothers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
