Experience the magic of winter during the 41st annual Winter\nLiving Celebration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 19, 2019, at Rogers\nEnvironmental Education Center in Sherburne. Hosted by Friends of Rogers, this\nfun-filled day will be packed with outdoor activities, demonstrations, and live\nperformances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re excited to be celebrating the 41st<\/sup>\nanniversary of this beloved festival, which we know our community looks forward\nto with great anticipation every year,\u201d said Simon Solomon, Friends of Rogers\nexecutive director. \u201cThis year, thanks to the generosity of Blueox Energy\nProducts, we are able to enhance the winter living experience by supplementing\ntraditional event demonstrations with new guest vendors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back by popular demand, world class ice-sculptor Stanley\nKolonko of The Ice Farm returns, along with his \u201cbest ice south of the Arctic\nCircle.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In keeping with Winter Living Celebration tradition,\nvisitors have the opportunity to be a \u201chuman bird-feeder,\u201d make crafts in the Bird\nCabin, view Environmental Conservation Officer and Forest Ranger\ndemonstrations, take a horse-drawn sleigh ride, and roast marshmallows over a\ncampfire to make s\u2019mores. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perennial favorite the Susquehanna String Band (SSB) returns\nto provide musical entertainment. Unique among today\u2019s traditional music\ngroups, the SSB features Rick Bunting, Dan Duggan, John Kirk, and special guest\nTrish Miller. While each are all accomplished solo performers in a wide variety\nof styles of music, their combined talents create an exciting ensemble effect\nin the performance of traditional music from America and the British Isles.\nThey have four recording projects to their credit including their latest\nrelease, \u201cAuld Lang Syne.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interactive live demonstrations will be presented on\ncross-cut sawing, ice-fishing, and fly-tying with Trout Unlimited. Weather\npermitting, free cross-country skiing and snowshoeing will be available. Thanks\nto the Chenango Bird Club and the Rotary Club of Sherburne, refreshments will\nbe available for purchase, with all proceeds to benefit Friends of Rogers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur Winter Living Celebration is the perfect opportunity to\nexperience new outdoor adventures,\u201d said Sarah Freedman, Friends of Rogers\nenvironmental educator. \u201cMany visitors have shared they have a renewed sense of\nappreciation for winter by trying something during the festivities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While there is no charge, Friends of Rogers encourages\ncontributions to support future operations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers Environmental Education\nCenter, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for people of all ages. Seasonal\nhours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m.\nto 3 p.m. on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
