The Cazenovia Public Library invites adults and children of\nall ages to the Community Room for two free screenings of Smallfoot at\n3:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11. The animated musical adventure film\nfeatures original music and an all-star cast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The story follows Migo, a friendly Yeti who encounters\nsomething he thought didn’t exist\u2014a human. When the rest of the Yeti villagers\nrefuse to believe his fantastical tale, Migo faces banishment from his home. To\nget back in the community’s good graces, Migo embarks on an epic journey to\nfind the mysterious creature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film is rated PG and runs 96 minutes. Free popcorn\nprovided. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Cazenovia Public\nLibrary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LEGO building session Jan. 14<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cazenovia Public Library invites children ages 5 and\nolder to the Community Room at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14 for the chance to\nchannel their inner architect and get building! Museum educator Pat Hill will\nlead \u201cLEGO My Library,\u201d a fun, hands-on program for young builders.\nParticipants will have access to the library\u2019s vast collection of LEGO\nconstruction toys. The program will feature a snowball-thrower challenge and\ntime for creative construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Library is a place of imagination and discovery.\nPrograms like \u201cLEGO My Library\u201d allow children to socialize, be creative, and\nsee their imaginings come to life. Construction toys offer significant\neducational benefits to children of all ages. Not only is hands-on play fun and\nexciting, but it also helps to develop motor and spatial skills, ingenuity,\ncritical thinking, social and language proficiencies and more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fly-tying workshop Jan. 17<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cazenovia Public Library invites anglers and outdoor\nenthusiasts to the Community Room for an Introduction to Fly Tying. Local\nfisherman Shaun LaVancher will lead the workshop at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17. The\nfun and interactive program is presented by Madison County Trout Unlimited\nChapter 680.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fly-tying is the art of making artificial lures for fly\nfishing. Many anglers spend the winter months hand-tying flies for the next\nfishing season. During this special demonstration, LaVancher will introduce a\nfew fly patterns proven to be effective on local streams. In addition to\noffering expert tips and fishing stories, he will also discuss the basics of\naquatic entomology (the study of insects).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
