Join Herkimer County HealthNet and volunteers for the sixth annual Walk for Wanda event Wednesday, May 15, 2019, in Eastern Park (adjacent to Benton Hall Academy) in Little Falls. The Walk will start at 5:30 p.m. in Eastern Park (registration begins at 4:30 p.m. at Benton Hall, 1 Ward St., Little Falls).

The walk is in memory of Wanda Gifford, lifelong resident of Herkimer County, who passed away in 2014 from complications due to diabetes. Proceeds from the Walk for Wanda Fundraiser will support Herkimer County HealthNet’s Type 2 diabetes prevention and ‘living with diabetes’ programs for Mohawk Valley residents.

“It’s important that this walk and the funds that support it contribute to the work of Herkimer County HealthNet, mostly because the proceeds stay local,” said Althea Noyes, Walk for Wanda Chairperson. “Preventing type-2 diabetes and living well with diabetes is an important focus.”

Herkimer County HealthNet’s Diabetes Prevention and Living Well with Diabetes workshops help participants enhance skills to maintain active and fulfilling lifestyles. Our goal is to provide community education that supports development of the knowledge, skill, and confidence to live well with diabetes and to learn new behaviors for diabetes prevention.”

Herkimer County HealthNet is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, and its mission is to improve the health and well-being of individuals who live, work, play and learn in Herkimer County and the Mohawk Valley.
