State police in Marcy are investigating a shooting incident that occurred at 6110 Walker Road in Deerfield, Oneida County.

Investigation suggests that at approximately 2:40 p.m., homeowner Ronald Stolarczyk interrupted a burglary and shot the two suspects with an illegally owned handgun. The two suspects have been identified as:

Patricia Anne Talerico, 57, of 901 John St., Utica, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Nicholas A. Talerico, 27, of 110 Grove Place, Utica, was transported by private vehicle to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica where he was pronounced deceased.

Stolarczyk, 64, of 6110 Walker Road, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony; he was transported to the Oneida County Jail awaiting centralized arraignment.

State police were assisted by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office.

The investigation is continuing.

    1. I am approving this comment with the caveat that the charge comes from illegal possession of a firearm and not a Second Amendment-related infringement.
