On July 17, 2020, Utica police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Cleveland Avenue regarding a domestic incident involving a handgun.

Upon arrival the officers took a position of cover and began to make contact with individuals within the residence. After a short time, several parties exited; however, the suspect remained inside. After additional negotiations, the suspect ultimately came out and was taken into custody without incident.

After interviewing the parties involved, it was learned that the suspect had threatened a female and small child by pointing the weapon at them.

Officers then gained entry into the home and, during the course of their search, located a loaded .40-caliber handgun that had been secreted in a t-shirt behind a bed. The weapon in question matched the description provided by the witnesses and victim.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Ber Doh, 19, of Utica, was charged with second-degree menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm and endangering the welfare of a child.

The investigation continues; additional charges are likely.
