(Oneida, NY – July 2014) The state Department of State and the Madison County NY Rising Planning Committee will hold an open house Tuesday, July 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Madison County to discuss the development of a Countywide Resiliency Strategy that will identify a range of resiliency actions that can be taken to better prepare for future storms.

The open house will take place at the Kallet Theater, 159 Main St. in Oneida.

The public will be encouraged to provide input on aspects of the County’s Resiliency Plan, and share their knowledge of:

• Specific needs, opportunities and strategies that will make the County more resilient.
• Potential projects that will reduce the County’s vulnerability to future storm events.

Representatives of the Department of State, along with members of the Madison County Planning Committee and local elected officials, will be on hand to discuss the program, proposed resilience and recovery projects, resilience strategies, schedule, components, and expected outcomes with the public.
The NYRCR Program is designed to empower communities affected by storms to develop and implement locally created strategies for rebuilding and strengthening their communities against future extreme weather events.  The strategies for Madison County have been developed by the Madison County NYRCR Planning Committee, community leaders, experts and officials.
