On May 1 at approximately 10:37 p.m., State Police responded to a report of a one-vehicle accident on I-87 near the New Baltimore Service Area.
The investigation revealed that a Volkswagen Jetta was off the right shoulder of the road stuck in a ditch. The driver of the vehicle, Angel Borgen, 32, of Wilkes Barre, Pa., was found to be intoxicated, in possession of a baton (a/k/a/ “billy club”) and marijuana. He was transported and processed at SP Albany, where he refused to submit to a breath or blood test to determine the alcohol content in his system.
He was subsequently charged with:
- Driving While Intoxicated; an Unclassified Misdemeanor
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
- Unlawful Possession of Marijuana; a Violation
Borgen was arraigned before the Town of New Baltimore Court on remanded to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $2500 cash bail.
