nutn-award-croppedHerkimer County Community College’s Internet Academy is the recipient of the 2016 Institutional Achievement Award presented by the National University Technology Network. The award recognizes effective use of technology in teaching and learning and/or organizational administration that is exemplary, demonstrating leadership and commitment, but also advancing the field as an institutional model.

Herkimer College’s Internet Academy was selected for their recent ‘Course Refresh Initiative,’ designed to guarantee online students the highest quality, most accessible and most personally relevant online courses possible. Refreshed courses provide students with state-of-the-art learning strategies which encourage deep learning, course completion and success.

The NUTN is a consortium of higher education institutions which provides a networking and professional development arena for the advancement of teaching and learning. Members represent a widely diverse group of innovative leaders in the advancement of technology, spanning many different points along the continuum of the implementation of educational technologies.

Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for the Internet Academy and Continuing Education Linda Lamb accepted the award on Thursday, September 29 at the NUTN Network Conference in Clearwater, Florida. More than 100 higher education institutions across the country were represented at the conference which is held annually and focuses on distance education, blended learning and technologies that support teaching and learning.

“This has been an incredible conference. It was an invaluable opportunity to network and learn about innovative initiatives at other institutions. It was an honor to accept the Institutional Achievement Award on behalf of Herkimer College and the Internet Academy and to be recognized for our innovation and leadership.”

The Internet Academy offers 19 complete online degree programs, three online certificate programs and over 200 online courses and support services including advisement, tutoring, disabilities services, library services and technical support.
