Colgate Athletics announced Friday that Melissa Finley has resigned from her position as head softball coach to accept a job as the head coach at Swarthmore College.

“I would like to thank Melissa for her hard work over these past five years and wish her all the best at Swarthmore,” said Colgate Vice President and Director of Athletics Victoria M. Chun ’91 MA’94.

Finley spent five seasons at the helm of the Raiders, coaching seven athletes to All-Patriot League status. The Raiders made a pair of Patriot League Tournament appearances during Finley’s tenure in 2013 and 2015. She coached Colgate to its first Patriot League Tournament victory in four years during the 2015 season.

Finley mentored three Academic All-Patriot League squad members and several NFCA Scholar-Athletes throughout her tenure. The Raiders compiled a 71-142-1 overall record and 33-59 mark in Patriot League play during Finley’s five seasons.

A national search for Colgate’s next head softball coach will begin immediately.
