Community volunteers fueled it forward at Cliff’s Pumps United

United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area partner Cliff’s Local Market generously hosted community volunteers for the second annual “Cliff’s Pumps United” fundraising event Tuesday, June 5.

More than $5,661 was raised and will benefit United Way’s work funding area programs and services, and addressing crucial community issues in the impact areas of health, education, financial stability and basic needs in the Valley and Greater Utica area.

Special thanks to locally owned-and-operated Clifford Fuel Co., Inc. for making Cliff’s Pumps United possible by providing its Cliff’s Local Market locations at four locations throughout Oneida County.

“Local communities are what keep us going and we love the chance to help give back to them,” said Jim Clifford, president of Clifford Fuel, Inc. “Throughout the years, Clifford Fuel has witnessed our partnership with the United Way change many local lives and increase awareness in support of their cause.”

Employees from event sponsors, Assist 2 Sell, Berkshire Bank, The Bonadio Group, Casa Imports, Cooley Brand Group, Joe Tahan’s Furniture, McQuade & Bannigan, Sotera Investigative Group, were eager to pump gas and wash windshields for tips. The funds made for their efforts directly benefit United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area.

A warm bed, a meal at the end of the day, or transportation to a medical appointment are all things that some may take for granted, yet can be monumental to those without. While a small tip may not seem like much, they can add up to make a big difference and greatly impact United Way’s funding to area programs and services, addressing crucial community issues.
