Watertown man arrested for making terrorist threats on social media websites
State Police announce the arrest of Tristan T. Maldonado, 21, from Watertown, for Making a Terroristic Threat, a class D felony.
Maldonado is accused of making several threats to harm American citizens on two social media sites “Facebook” and “Snapchat.” A friend of Maldonado contacted Police after seeing the posted threats online.
An investigation into the threats began immediately by members of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, with assistance from the NYSP Counter Terrorism Investigation Unit, Joint Terrorism Task Force and City of Watertown Police Department.
Tristan Maldonado was arraigned in the town of Pamelia Court and was remanded to the Jefferson County Jail on $15,000 bail.
