Turn in Unused or Expired Medication on Saturday, Oct. 27

Kinney Drugs Partners with Law Enforcement for National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Kinney Drugs is partnering with local police departments to offer a place where individuals can bring their controlled and non-controlled medications for safe disposal. Kinney Drugs will host events at many participating New York and Vermont stores on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

All events are free and open to the public. A full list of participating locations is available online at kinneydrugs.com.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back raises awareness for public safety and helps address public health issues. Studies show that prescription drug abuse in the U.S. is at an alarming rate, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Many individuals do not realize that medicines that are stored in home medicine cabinets can be highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse. In addition, people do not know how to properly dispose of their unused medicine, often flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away – both posing potential safety and health hazards. This event aims to provide a safe, convenient, and environmentally responsible means of disposing of these prescription drugs.
