(Oneida, NY – Aug, 20, 2014) State Police arrested Jacob Walsh, 30, from 535 South Way, Newfield for first-degree Robbery, a class “B” felony.

State Police along with the Oneida Nation Police responded to a reported armed robbery that occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. last evening at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona.

The investigation revealed Walsh went up to a cashier at the casino and told her that he had a weapon and to fill his backpack with money.  Walsh then left on foot towards the New York State Thruway.

The Oneida County 911 Center alerted county and thruway units of the robbery.  Shortly after being dispatched to the area, Troopers located Walsh hiding in the wooded area near exit 33 of the New York State Thruway and was taken into custody without incident.

Walsh was arraigned in the Town of Verona before Judge Randall Smith and remanded to Oneida County Jail on $60,000 cash/bond.  He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Verona Court on August 25, 2014 at 3pm.  State Police and the Oneida Nation Police department are continuing their investigation.
