(Oneida, NY – Aug. 2014) Madison County Historical Society’s 50th Annual Craft Days will be held Saturday Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historical society Main Street in Oneida.

Admission is $4 for adults; children 12 and younger enter free. The society is once again offering a weekend pass for $6.  There is a free park and ride shuttle at the Glenwood Plaza on Route 46 in Oneida.

Visitors can watch as some crafters demonstrate their artistry twice each day at 11 a.m. to noon and again from 1 to 2 p.m.

Artisans in this year’s hail from all over New York State and Pennsylvania selling and displaying their decorative paintings, fiber arts, floral, glass fused creations, jewelry, painting and drawings, photography, candles,  skin care products, soap, pottery, woodworking, mixed media, pet products and more.

There will be an array of foods from pastries, fudge, kettle corn, wood fired pizza, cinnamon roasted nuts, ice cream, honey, maple products and jams and jellies.

Musical entertainment will be provided from 1 to 3 p.m. each day by two returning groups. On Saturday, Double Chase, led by mother and son, Thelma and Matt Chase will play their folk melodies. On Sunday, a small group of the New York State Old Tyme Fiddlers Association known as “The Thistle and the Rose” will present old time Scots-Irish music.

There will be also free children’s activities all weekend. On Saturday and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. the society will have 19th century games set-up in tent 1 for children between the ages of nine and 12. On Saturday and Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. artist and Oneida High school art teacher Heather Cigeroglu, along with her Oneida High School Art Club students will be doing face painting.

Visitors can also tour the society’s headquarters, Cottage Lawn, an 1849 Gothic Revival Cottage, during the event between noon and 2 p.m. – 2 p.m. Early American Industries will be demonstrating throughout the weekend using early American wooden tools. They also hope the public brings in their old tools that they will help them identify.

On Sunday only from 1 to 2:30 p.m. the Beekman Boys (Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Dr. Brent Ridge) will be appearing for a book signing. Beekman related merchandise will also be available for sale. The Beekman Boys are well known for their signature brand of beauty, home and food products that are available at national retail stores and as authors of a series of cookbooks and stars of their very own cooking show on the Cooking Channel.

No animals or smoking are permitted on the grounds.
