Dr. Joseph Bularzik(Morrisville, NY – Oct. 2014) Dr. Joseph Bularzik, of Manlius, has been hired as dean of the School of Science, Technology and Health Studies at Morrisville State.

In his new role, Bularzik is responsible for the leadership of the school, as well as directing innovative teaching, program development, and assessment strategies.

“Dr. Bularzik brings significant experience in teaching and scientific research, academic leadership and program development, and forging external community partnerships,” said David Rogers, provost at Morrisville State. ”We are delighted to have him join us.”

Bularzik’s extensive career in higher education includes the past five years working in the Middle East. Most recently, he served as the associate provost for Graduate Studies, Continuing Education and Outreach for the Higher Colleges of Technology in the United Arab Emirates, which consists of 17 colleges and 20,000 students throughout the country. During that time, he was responsiblefor the management and academic development of the graduate programs, continuing education programs and outreach programs with other educational institutions.

His experience also includes working at Abu Dhabi University, where was the founder and director of the science division, director of the undergraduate students research program, and associate professor of chemistry. During his tenure, he was awarded several research grants and an Excellence in Teaching Award.

Prior to Abu Dhabi University, Bularzik was an associate professor of chemistry and director of student research at Purdue University Calumet, and held various faculty and research positions at Princeton University, the University of Notre Dame, Iowa State University and Lycoming College. He has also authored numerous research publications, received patents, and presented at professional seminars and conferences throughout his extensive career in industrial research and academia.

Bularzik received a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in chemistry from Arizona State University.
