(Canastota, NY – Nov. 2014) The 2014 New York State (Future Business Leaders of America) FBLA District 7 Fall Conference was held at Herkimer County BOCES on Friday, Oct. 31.  Sixteen Canastota High School members attended along with over 150 other members from throughout Madison, Oneida, and Herkimer counties. 

Jacob Fleming, a previous Canastota High School member, a current senior at RFA, coordinated and presided over the meeting.  Fleming is serving the 2014-2015 school year as the NYS FBLA District 7 State Vice President.

Derick Trost, NYS FBLA President, also assisted with the preparations for the meeting.  Eight workshops were presented to the membership in attendance on topics such as “Public Speaking,” “What Employers Look For,” “Professional Image,” “The College Admission Process,” “Parliamentary Procedure” and several others. Several professionals from the area presented workshops to the membership.

Trost also presented a workshop during the event.

Nichole Delaney and Julia DiVeronica participated in the Battle of the Best competition.  Delaney placed second in the contest.

The following Canastota members were appointed to serve as District 7 officers:  Julia DiVeronica  – District Parliamentarian and Jacob Smith – District Secretary.

The next district meeting will be held on Feb. 6 at the Herkimer BOCES site.
