(Cazenovia, NY – Nov. 2015) Historic Cazenovia and the neoclassical home of the village founder will once again set a befitting backdrop for the annual tradition of Christmas at Lorenzo. Beginning with Christmas by Candlelight on Friday, Dec. 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. and running through Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5 and 6 from 1 to 4 p.m., visitors are invited to delight in the extensive Nutcracker-themed decorations throughout the site, sip on wassail and holiday sweets, and delight in the sounds of live Christmas music.

Horse-drawn sleigh rides (weather dependent) by Lamplit Farms will also be available throughout the three-day program, and round-trip rides to the Rippleton Schoolhouse will also be featured during Sunday hours when holiday crafts and refreshments will be presented in this c. 1814 setting.

Friday evening’s Christmas by Candlelight will feature the Belle Aire Handbell Trio  ringing in the holidays at the visitor center and holiday standards will be performed by the CNY Jazz Trio in the mansion;  the Davoli String Duo will  entertain during Saturday hours, and the Bells and Motley Consort will offer the sounds of a “Merry Olde Christmas” on Sunday.

Christmas_decorations_(2)Volunteer decorators worked throughout November in preparation for the Nutcracker theme this year, the Cazenovia School of Ballet loaned a number of artifacts and costumes to enhance the seasonal displays, and a special exhibit of wooden nutcrackers by the historic Steinbach Company of Germany will be featured.

Admission price is charged for a holiday visit to Lorenzo ($6 adults; $1 for children 12 and under). By prior reservation, groups of 12 or more will also be welcomed for guided tours during available weekdays throughout December.
