State Police in North Syracuse is investigating a larceny of a gravestone (flush marker type) from the Assumption Cemetery located at 2401 Court St., Salina.
On Monday, June 20, Troopers interviewed Jeffrey Smith who reported his daughter’s headstone and various religious items stolen from her gravesite sometime between June 8 and 20.
Breanna M. Smith died before age 2 as the result of complications with a rare medical condition. Breanna was buried in section U-4 of Assumption Cemetery (child section), approximately 15 years ago. Smith stated that he regularly visits the grave site of his daughter several times each year – on her birthday, the date of her death and Father’s Day.
