Joins Colgate Staff from Bryn Mawr; Soccer Star Member of Ithaca Hall of Fame

Colgate Athletics announced Monday the hiring of Erin DeMarco as Assistant Director of Compliance and Student-Athlete Academic Services.

A native of Latham, New York, DeMarco will complement both Assistant ADs Taurian Houston in Compliance and Angela Marathakis in Student-Athlete Academic Services.

“I’d like to thank Vicky Chun, Taurian Houston and Angela Marathakis for the opportunity to join Colgate’s impressive team,” DeMarco said. “I look forward to supporting the coaches and student-athletes as they continue to strive for excellence in the classroom and in competition.”

DeMarco comes to Colgate from Division III Bryn Mawr. She joined the Owls in 2006 as head women’s soccer coach and physical education senior lecturer.

The veteran coach led the Owls to nine straight NSCAA Team Academic Awards and has had 34 players named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll. In addition to her academic success, DeMarco’s 46 career victories are the second-most in program history.

“We are very excited to have Erin join our team,” said Colgate Vice President and Director of Athletics Victoria M. Chun ’91, MA’94. “Erin’s unwavering commitment to student-athletes both in the classroom and on the playing field make her a great addition to Colgate. Her experiences as a student-athlete, head coach and administrator will positively impact our student-athletes.”

A graduate of nearby Ithaca College, DeMarco is one of the most accomplished athletes in Ithaca women’s soccer history. She led the Bombers to four NCAA tournament appearances, including a run to the 1998 national semifinals. She is one of only two Ithaca players to earn All-America recognition three times.

For her efforts, DeMarco was inducted into the Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.

DeMarco earned her degree in health and physical education in 2001. She continued her education at Ithaca and received her master’s in exercise and sport sciences/sport pedagogy in 2002.
