The Cazenovia Public Library is pleased to welcome Ronald P. Kamp, Director of Development and Communications at the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory in Utica, to the Community Room Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m.
Kamp’s presentation is designed to deepen the public’s understanding of the Laboratory’s life-saving cardiology research and its application to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of heart disease.
The MMRL is an internationally recognized biomedical research institute founded by the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New York in 1958.
The Laboratory studies the genetic cause of lethal cardiac arrhythmias; the development of gene specific therapies, new heart medications, and diagnostic procedures; and new approaches to the management of cardiac arrhythmias. Research disciplines include cardiac electrophysiology, molecular biology, stem cell biology, and genetics.
The MMRL is a not-for-profit entity founded by the Grand Lodge of New York, F. & A.M. The Lab receives grants from the NIH, AHA, private foundations, corporations, and public support.
