MCCPaperLogoJoin Commerce Chenango and the Hamilton Business Alliance on Oct. 12 to experience the area’s premier eco-tourist destination while socializing with fellow community members. Sponsored by Log Cabin Books, the “Business After Hours” will be held from 5-7 p.m. at Rogers Environmental Education Center on Route 80 in Sherburne.

In celebration of being named Commerce Chenango’s 2016 Business of the Year, Friends of Rogers has planned a variety of activities. Festivities include tasty samplings from Michael’s Fine Foods & Spirits in Waterville, door prizes, and a live a cappella performance by the Blue Parsley Boys of Hamilton.

Special guest artist-in-residence Leigh Yardley will offer visitors the opportunity to participate in a unique community art project. Funded by the Chenango Arts Council’s Decentralization Program, the “Insect Installation” pollinator sculptures will be on permanent display at Rogers Center.

The two-hour, post-workday timeframe gives area professionals an opportunity to discuss and share ideas while learning about other local businesses. “Business After Hours” is a relationship-building experience in a relaxed setting, designed to benefit participants through added contacts and resources.

Founded in 2004, Log Cabin Books now has 17 titles. One of the few independent publishers remaining in Upstate New York, it features local authors across several genres that include local history, children’s books, personal finance, and fiction. While titles will not be sold during the “Business After Hours,” guests will have the opportunity to win door prizes from the publisher. Additionally, Log Cabin Books will donate 20 percent of profits on sales made through its website to Friends of Rogers from Oct. 12 through Nov. 15.

“We are extremely grateful to Log Cabin Books for making this ‘Business After Hours’ possible,” said Simon Solomon, FOR executive director. “Since 2011, when Friends of Rogers saved Rogers Environmental Education Center from closing, we have relied entirely on local support. This celebration commemorates all that we’ve been able to accomplish, in collaboration with our community partners, over the last five years.”

Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for all ages. Seasonal hours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, call (607) 674-4733 or visit www.FriendsofRogers.org.
