state-police-seal-150x150On Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at approximately 8:09 p.m., State Police investigated a fatal accident which occurred eastbound on I-90 between Exit 41 (Waterloo) and Exit 40 (Weedsport).

The investigation revealed the driver of a 2006 Toyota Corolla, Leticia Ramirez-Rivera, 27, of Falls Church, Vir., lost control of her vehicle on snow-covered roads, spinning out of control, when the driver of a 2012 Peterbilt tractor-trailer, Roy E. Bridges, 36, of Syracuse, struck the vehicle.

Ramirez-Rivera was traveling with two passengers, Juan Tellez-Sabines, 29, of Washington, D.C., and Valentin Ramirez, 31, of Sheldon, Vt. Ramirez succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Seneca County Coroner. Ramirez-Rivera and Tellez-Sabines were both transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for their injuries deemed to be non-life threatening.

Bridges was not injured in the accident.

The accident was reconstructed by the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and is still under investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.
