cross-the-line group-1Canastota High School’s FBLA was proud to host the 2016 Legacy Now Workshop Tuesday, Nov. 22. Members of FBLA served as facilitators for the annual event.

The members planned the event that was offered to ninth graders and also facilitated during the workshop. This is the eleventh year that Canastota High School FBLA has worked with Legacy Now to host the annual event.

Legacy Now provides students with the opportunity to attend the workshop and participate in character building activities that drive them to have a better outlook on their education and on life in general. By participating in this workshop, students gain an insight into a positive education environment that stresses teamwork and leadership.

Legacy Now presenters, Gary Ford, Tammy Alcott, and Russ Stewart, worked with FBLA members and their advisor, Mrs. Garofalo, to establish the goals for this year’s program. Together, they spent the day promoting leadership and significance in an effort to provide a positive environment in the Canastota School District. Canastota High School Principal, Jay Altobello, and High School Assistant Principal, Stan Congden, also participated in the event sharing their goals with the students in attendance.

The entire ninth grade class took part in the event. The morning session was devoted to the forty-eight ninth grade boys. Teacher, Josh Chenel, and Guidance Counselor, Bob Mengucci, worked with the team to provide a meaningful workshop. The ninth grade girls joined the group after lunch to finish out the workshop with topics of teamwork, leadership, respect, and social media issues being the focus for the afternoon. Together, over 100 members of the Class of 2020 took advantage of this outstanding opportunity.

High school teachers, Kelley Brenon, Lisa Visalli, Liz Garofalo, and Guidance Counselor, Brandi Bostic, participated in the afternoon events.
