State Police in Syracuse are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on I-90 westbound between exits 34 and exit 34A in Sullivan.
A preliminary investigation determined that at approximately 1:09 a.m., a passenger car was stopped in the driving lane in the area of mile marker 270 westbound. Two of the three occupants of the passenger car were standing in the road when they were struck by a tractor-trailer traveling westbound in the passing lane.
Both pedestrians were transported to SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse where one was pronounced dead; the other has serious injuries.
No other injuries are reported at this time.
