Dexter man arrested on child pornography charges following a joint investigation

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, consisting of the state police and the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations Division, conducted a joint investigation regarding the internet distribution of child pornography over the course of several months.

On May 7, 2019, two search warrants were executed in the villages of Brownville and Dexter, resulting in the arrest of 55-year-old Gerald W. MacNeil of Dexter, on three counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child (a D felony) and two counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child (a E felony).

The joint investigation determined that MacNeil was utilizing computers and software at a residence and business to distribute and possess images and videos of toddlers and other children who appear to be less than 16 years of age engaging in sexual conduct.

MacNeil was arraigned Brownville Town Court and remanded to the Jefferson County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond.
