Track of the Cat to be shown at the library
This May, the Cazenovia Public Library is celebrating 1950s cinema with a series of classic films from the decade. The library will show the 1954 film Track of the Cat at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019, in the Community Room.
The film is based on a 1949 adventure novel of the same name by Walter Van Tilburg Clark.
During a harsh winter in northern California, members of a ranching family squabble at home while the two oldest sons hunt for a panther that is killing their livestock.
Track of the Cat is rated approved and runs 102 minutes. Free popcorn provided. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Library to host author presentation
The Cazenovia Public Library will host a special presentation by author Martin Sweeney at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2019, in the Community Room.
The author will discuss his 2011 book, Lincoln’s Gift from Homer. The work examines three men from Homer — a detective, a journalist and a painter — who each played a significant role in the 16th president’s history.
Sweeney is a retired teacher and the historian for the village of Homer. He was the co-chairman of “Homer’s Celebration of Lincoln in Paint & Print” — a weeklong event in 2009 endorsed by the National Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees at SUNY Cortland and his MPA from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.
