On June 16, 2019, at 9:49 a.m., the 911 center received a call from a homeowner on Perryville Road in Fenner. The caller said they were eating Father’s Day breakfast at a restaurant when their security system alerted them to two intruders inside their residence.
Members of the Chittenango Police Department and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the caller’s residence; upon arrival, the two male subjects were in the house and taken into custody.
The men were identified as Jerrid J. Rowe, 22, of 2519 Candy Lane, Eaton; and Jeremy L. Cook, 22, of 2762 River Road, Eaton.
They were charged with second-degree burglary (a class C felony) and attempted petit larceny (a class B misdemeanor).
Cook, who damaged a safe with a hammer and metal punch he brought to the residence, was also charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief (a class A misdemeanor) and possession of burglar’s tools (a class A misdemeanor).
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Cook had stolen a key to the house from the homeowner’s keyring and used the key to enter.
