On Tuesdays in Aug. from 12 to 2 p.m. (Aug. 6-27), OPL’s Megan Gillander will conduct the Summer Reading Program’s Space Camp in which children 5 to 13 years old will be involved in books, crafts, puzzles and team projects that reflect a “universe of stories.” Parents need to sign-up their children for Space Camp at the OPL Circulation Desk.
Aug. 6: Yoga for Seniors, Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Certified Hathi Yoga instructor Bill Skinner returns for a new season of weekly Yoga for Seniors, using safe, healthful and relaxing exercises. The program is free, but pre-registration is required.
Aug. 7: The Nature Journal: Art Workshop in Pencil and Watercolors, Wednesday at the Great Swamp Conservancy, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Oneida Public Library has engaged artist and teacher Carol Cotten to hold a free art workshop in pencil and watercolors called The Nature Journal out of doors at the Great Swamp Conservancy in Canastota in four weekly sessions on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Aug. 7-28. In case of rain, the class will meet indoors at the Conservancy’s Center. Interested adults must register at the Oneida Library, 220 Broad St., for the class. Registered students will receive directions and a list of recommended art supplies and accessories for outdoor painting.
Aug. 7: Merry-Go-Round Youth Theatre performs “Look Up: Tales of the Sky,” Wednesday at 5 p.m.
The Merry-Go-Round Youth Theatre comes to Oneida Public Library to give a free performance of “Look Up: Tales of the Sky,” a new play by Stephanie Figer. The rollicking three-part comedy asks such perennial questions as where did the sun and moon come from? When you wish upon a star, does someone hear you? Sponsored by the Friends of the Oneida Public Library, the performance is free and open to the public.

Friends of the Oneida Public Library are sponsoring a book fair featuring the wide-range of children’s and young adult books published by Usborne. The fair will help supplement the Oneida Public Library’s book budget.
Aug. 23: Jeff the Magic Man, Friday at 1 p.m.
Jeff the Magic Man returns to Oneida Public Library to perform his wizardry with balloons and his space-defying magic tricks. His show is free and appropriate for children of all ages.

The Oneida Public Library Board of Trustees will hold its regular monthly meeting Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at 9 a.m. in the library’s Local History Room, 220 Broad St., Oneida. The public is invited to attend. The History Room permits barrier-free access to the physically handicapped.
