The Utica Zoo will be holding a First Responder Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27. All first-responders will receive free admission to the zoo as a thank you for their dedication, bravery and sacrifices.

The Zoo also announced there will be a variety of first-responder equipment and informational booths such as fire trucks, ambulances, police vehicles, the Utica Fire Department Smoke House with Sparky the Dog and more starting at 1 p.m.

“Our first-responders are always the ones we can count on in the event of an emergency, and we wanted to take the opportunity to give them a special thank you by offering free admission and an opportunity to create unique memories with their families,” said Mark Simon, Marketing Coordinator for the Utica Zoo. “First responders work long hours, doing dangerous jobs, and we hope this is a chance for them to enjoy some time off and know that they are greatly appreciated.”
