It’s going around; not the flu, the 10-Gallon Milk Challenge.

Julie Harney, executive director of the Madison County Office for the Aging, Inc., was recently challenged by Greg Olsen, director of the New York State Office for the Aging, to buy 10 gallons of milk and distribute them to local food pantries. The idea is to provide much-needed fresh milk to local families that need it, as well as to support dairy farmers in the state.

Madison County OFA’s milk went to the Brookfield Food Pantry, the DeRuyter Food Pantry, the Earlville Food Pantry, Compassion Connection in Canastota and the Sullivan Food Cupboard in Chittenango.

Harney passed on the challenge to Bonnie Slocum, director of the Madison County Rural Health Council.

Get milk, and pass the challenge around.
