Jan. 12, 2020: Utica man arrested on robbery charges
Troopers arrested Omarie J. Trim, 22, from 512 Herkimer Road, Utica, on a charge of second-degree robbery, a class C felony.
On Jan. 11 at 7:40 p.m., state police responded to a stolen vehicle complaint on Newport Road in the town of Schuyler; while responding, the trooper observed the stolen vehicle and attempted to pull the car over.
The driver refused to comply, then stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. Multiple patrol and K-9 units responded to search the area. The search and subsequent investigation led troopers to a residence on Herkimer Road in Utica. As officers were forming a perimeter around the residence, the suspect attempted to flee from an upstairs window; however, once he was confronted by the K-9 units and patrols, he retreated back into the residence and subsequently surrendered to troopers.
The preliminary investigation suggests that Trim agreed to meet the victim, who was selling the car on Facebook Marketplace. When the victim met with Trim, he pointed a handgun at the victim, demanded the keys and title and fled the area. Investigators located a loaded Smith & Wesson revolver at the scene.
Trim was arraigned and remanded to the Herkimer County Jail on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.
