(Morrisville, NY- Jan. 2013) Volunteers are needed to support the free tax preparation service for seniors in Madison County. The Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE), program is a vital service that is offered free of charge for the senior citizens of Madison County. Volunteer tax counselors assist seniors 60+ years, with preparation of simple tax forms.
The program is coordinated by RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) of Madison County which will offer training and assistance in getting new tax counselors certified by the IRS.
Interested volunteers should be comfortable working with computers, and able to attend several days of training in Morrisville that will assist in preparing you for the IRS certification test. Each new tax preparer will be assigned a mentor to work with and also help with any questions that might arise. RSVP will work with you to create a schedule that meets your individual needs.
The tax training workshop will be held Tuesday Jan. 8, Wednesday Jan. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Thursday Jan. 10 from 9 to noon. The training will again be held at Cornell Cooperative Extension, Morrisville.
If you or someone you know would like to join our tax team, please contact us at 315-684-3001 X 103 or Judy Parker, TCE Coordinator at 315-882-0883. Please leave a message and Judy will get back to you.
