(Richfield Springs, NY – Feb. 2013) There will be a special information meeting regarding the current milk pricing formula for all dairy farmers at Tally Ho Restaurant, 14 Main St., Richfield Springs, Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m.

Peter Fredericks from the Federal Milk Marketing Order #2 will describe how milk prices paid to dairy farmers are determined.

“It’s time that dairy farmers understand how their milk prices are determined,” said Robin Fitch, a dairy farmer from West Winfield who serves as a director of the Progressive Agriculture Organization. “This is why we have asked Mr. Fredericks to be present at the meeting. “

“While we strongly believe the dairy farmers’ cost of production should be reflected in the dairy farmers’ pay price, this meeting will be for the purpose of explaining the present system,” said Arden Tewksbury, manager of Pro-Ag. “I don’t know of anyone that could do a better job of explaining the system than Mr. Fredericks.”

Fredericks will be able to explain such things as the producer price differential and anything else that makes up the present pricing system.

All interested members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend.
