Chittenango Garden Club News
(Chittenango, NY – Feb. 2013) The Chittenango Garden Club held an award ceremony Jan. 16 for the winners of the 2012 “Light Up Downtown” contest. The contest was the conclusion of the town’s Bicentennial celebration. The dessert reception was held at Sullivan Free Library’s community room; about 40 people attended, including the village historians, garden club members, winners and their families.
First-place winners in the residential display were the Brian Buyea family for Best Bicentennial theme, the Charles Whalen family for Best Animation with lighting, the Tabitha Brookins family for Holiday Spirit and the Gareth Scofield family for Best Overall Lighting Display.
First-place winners in the business display were American Medwell for Best Bicentennial theme, the Olive Branch Flower and Gift shop for Holiday Spirit, All Things Oz for best Oz Theme and Sorbello’s Garden and Produce for best Overall Lighting Display.
Special thanks were given to the village Department of Public Works staff for their efforts in decorating for the holiday.
The Garden Club thanks all who participated in the contest and the committee chaired by Donna Lynch.
