(Canastota, Town of Lenox, NY) The Great Swamp Conservancy announced recently it was awarded a $25,000 grant from the Central New York Community Foundation. The funds are designated for refurbishing the barn, which will ultimately become a Museum of Natural History and community center.
This $25,000 from the Community Foundation, along with $20,000 from the Gorman Foundation, are earmarked for the development of the barn into a heated year-round building with multiple uses and purposes. A Museum of Natural History and Community Center will be a great addition to the Nature Center Complex. This will allow the GSC to host various events, seminars, fundraisers, meetings and individual rentals that the GSC has never had the ability to do before.
