(Cazenovia, NY – Feb. 2013) If you would like training on how to use iPhones, digital cameras, eBooks or Google, stop by the Cazenovia Public Library for a class with a technology trainer. Two classes will also be offered Monday, Feb. 25. The 10 a.m. session covers eReaders and will show users how to borrow eBooks from the Mid-York system, which now offers a new and improved catalog with more precise selection options.
Participants should bring their personal device to class while those interested in exploring eReader options will have the opportunity to handle the Kindle Fire, Kindle Touch and Nook Color.
At 1 p.m., an introduction to Google and Gmail will give teach participants to create a Google account and learn how to send, receive and organize email.
Also covered will be how to use Google calendar to create events, send invitations and share calendars with friends and family. A final topic will be a discussion of “the cloud” to better understand how Google’s programs and services function.
The final two classes will be held Monday, March 4. Google Apps will be taught at 1 p.m. where students will learn about Google Drive, free word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software. Participants will practice creating documents, organizing them into folders, downloading and sharing.
At the end of class, time will be allowed to practice, as well as to explore other free Google tools.
The eReader class will again be offered at 7 p.m. March 4.
