(Cazenovia, NY – March 20, 2013) Senior Cory Tilton (Central Square, N.Y.), of the Cazenovia College men’s lacrosse team, made his way to the top of the Cazenovia record book last week while the Wildcats were on their annual southern Spring Break trip.

Tilton scored two goals while dishing out two assists in a hard fought loss at Wesley College. More importantly, however, is that after his strong performance, Tilton became the all-time leader in career points for Cazenovia College. En route to the all-time points record, he also became the all-time leader in assists in program history.

Tilton, the ever-humble leader of the Wildcats, commented on this monumental accomplishment by stating that, “breaking this record is a great honor and I could not have done it without my head coach, Kevin Johnson, my assistant coaches, and all of my teammates over my four years”.

The aforementioned Coach Kevin Johnson reciprocates that same gratitude when speaking of his senior captain. Johnson states, “Cory Tilton has set the gold standard for what it means to play lacrosse at Cazenovia College. He is a model of true leadership and of how to carry yourself on the field, but more importantly how to represent yourself, your team, and your college off the field. I am proud of the fact that when I have to explain to current and future Wildcats what my expectations are, all I have to do is point to the top line of the record books and they can see his name”.

Tilton currently sits at 152 career points (71 goals and 81 assists) topping the previous mark of 144 points set by Alex Cost ’06, a distinguished member of the Cazenovia College Athletics Hall of Fame. The 81 assists bests the previous record of 77 helpers set by Bill Rabuano ’06.

With the standard set by the two-time All-North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) performer, and the steady guidance of the reigning NEAC Coach of the Year, the future for Cazenovia College men’s lacrosse looks bright. Tilton believes in this notion whole-heartedly commenting, “I like where the men’s lacrosse program is heading for Cazenovia College. We have already begun the process of building a great program and have the promise and opportunities to continue as a top tier team in the NEAC”.

Tilton has nine games remaining in his senior campaign with plans of adding to his already remarkable statistical accomplishments. Regardless of what the final numbers may be, however, it is the personal influence that Tilton has established on the men’s lacrosse team and in the Cazenovia College community that makes him memorable and sets the standard of excellence for the entire athletic department at Cazenovia College.
