Caz College students seek to raise awareness of bone marrow donor program
(Cazenovia, NY – March 2013) Students in Cazenovia College’s Event Management class will be hosting a Be The Match Walk in Cazenovia on April 20 at 2 p.m. in an effort to raise awareness for Be The Match – a national bone marrow donor program.
Students and community members are invited to participate in the Walk and consider becoming a part of the Be The Match Registry. Immediately following the Walk, a reception will be held at Dave’s Diner. During the reception, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a cheek swab and join the Be The Match Registry.
“We decided to organize this walk because it is really close to our hearts,” explained senior Equine Management major Matthew Arias, of Beachwood, NJ, one of the students in charge of planning the event. “The mother of one of our fellow students was diagnosed with a rare form of MS and actually used Be The Match. After hearing how she was helped by the organization, we wanted to raise awareness about this amazing organization. In addition to coordinating the Walk, our class will be accepting donations to contribute to Be The Match.”
Details associated with participating in the Walk will be released closer to the April 20 event. To learn more about the event or for registration information, please contact Cazenovia College student Jennifer Krist at (860) 916-8692 or email jkrist@cazenovia.edu.
