(Verona, NY – March 2013) The Utica National Insurance Group recognized Madison-Oneida BOCES on March 13 with a 2013 School Safety Excellence Award. Madison-Oneida BOCES earned a titanium level award, the highest safety rating given by Utica National for its School Safety Excellence Awards Program.
This is the fourth consecutive year Madison-Oneida BOCES has been recognized by Utica National’s school safety awards program, which helps participating schools and BOCES enhance overall safety through measurable assessments. Madison-Oneida BOCES was evaluated in 14 categories ranging from bullying prevention to playground safety.
The award carries a $500 award to use in furthering its safety efforts.
“It’s a credit to the Madison-Oneida BOCES to receive the highest safety rating level for the fourth consecutive year. This award recognizes the quality of the facility and the continuous efforts of the BOCES staff and leadership in providing a safe and healthy environment for the students and staff,” said Jack Angrisano, Risk Management Specialist.
Angrisano coordinates the Risk Management Information and Communication Service at Madison-Oneida BOCES, which serves all nine component districts.
The service is designed to promote and develop measures for safety in the areas of playgrounds, athletic programs, laboratories, transportation, and property/facilities, and to minimize hazards to students, employees and others in the schools. He assists school districts in reviewing emergency preparedness, student conduct and disciplinary policies to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
